Ashley is a qualified Occupational Therapist who graduated from James Cook University in Townsville. Ashley’s passion for working with children originated from working with children and in healthcare at a young age. She is driven and passionate about providing family centred care for children and their families as she believes it is important for children to choose activities that are meaningful to them. Ashley has had experience with groups and has evolved her skills through assistant therapy and is looking forward to pursuing specialisation areas in ASD, developmental delays and sensory processing differences.

She has undertaken her training to specialize in educational and developmental psychology, and has experience in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions to assist families, children, and adolescents. Bonnie is skilled in assessment for learning-related difficulties and developmental concerns, and tries to work in liaison with the school to support and scaffold children in the educational setting. Bonnie has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young children with behavioural difficulties and developmental transition difficulties, and enjoys working with parents to provide attachment-related and parenting support. Brenda Hughes

Psychologist

Brenda Hughes is a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and is a Medicare provider. Brenda’s undergraduate and Masters level training focused on educational and developmental psychology and she is skilled in providing therapy and conducting assessment. Brenda has experience working as a psychologist in schools and clinical settings where she has supported individuals with attachment and relationship difficulties, trauma, life transitions, divorce, self-esteem, attention difficulties, social skills, emotional regulation, behaviour difficulties, anxiety, and depression. She also has a particular interest in supporting parents using attachment-based and behavioural approaches. Brenda provides therapy in a warm, supportive environment, collaborating with her clients to tailor her therapeutic approach to the individual. She likes to engage youth in therapy by incorporating evidence-based Expressive Arts Therapy and multimedia into her sessions. Caitlin McGuren

Caitlin McGuren is a Speech Pathologist with the team at All About Kids. She has experience working with children with disabilities and learning difficulties, and has provided therapy support within home, school and clinic settings. She has a particular interest in working with children with Autism and learning difficulties. Caitlin believes every child deserves to share their thoughts. She is passionate about helping all children to communicate to the best of their ability by building on their strengths. She has a particular interest in supporting children with Autism, speech disorders and those who may use assistive technology to communicate. Caitlin has a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the University of Queensland. She believes communication is an essential part of both academic and social development, and that early speech and language intervention can make a real difference in a child’s life. She has supported children with speech, language and literacy difficulties including children with overarching diagnoses such as Autism and cerebral palsy.

Chase Carpenter

Speech Pathologist

In December 2016, Chase joined All About Kids. He has experience working with children diagnosed with ASD, Global Development Delay, Down Syndrome, and other genetic syndromes. He has also worked with children with apraxia of speech, hearing impairments, and children with feeding issues. Chase is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and is a member of Speech Pathology Australia. He has experience working with children and their families in clinical, home, and school environments. Chase believes in working closely with family and educational support staff to maximise the effectiveness of speech and language therapy. He enjoys his role in assisting children to achieve their optimal communication skills and becoming confident young members of society. Chase is able to provide intervention for articulation and phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language difficulties, and literacy concerns. Chase has a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from the University of Queensland. In 2016 Chase completed Hanen It Takes Two To Talk and the Sydney Children’s Hospital Paediatric Feeding workshop.

Dr Atholl Murray

Psychologist

Atholl provides counselling and psychotherapy for a range of issues including identity, gender, sexuality and personality, mental health, relationships (friendships, family, romantic) and developmental changes as well as trauma and crisis intervention. He has worked with young people and adults for over 20 years, in educational settings as a classroom teacher, school leader and university lecturer and researcher. He is a provisionally registered psychologist and has a particular interest in working with males, identity development, and building strong relationships, which was the focus of his research work. Atholl’s work largely focuses on supporting change through helping young people and adults to make sense of themselves, their experiences and to build personal capacity and resilience. He uses strength-based, psychodynamic, client-centred and developmental approaches.

Dr Clea Headley

Psychologist

Clea is a registered Clinical Psychologist who holds a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical) and a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours). She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the APS Clinical College and is a Board-Approved Supervisor. Clea has worked with people across the lifespan but is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, young adults and their families. She has worked in the public health system for 10 years, in both the inpatient and outpatient Child and Youth Mental Health Service. She has experience using a range of therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Family Systems theory, including Narrative and Solution-Focused therapy. Clea is able to conduct comprehensive psychometric assessments to assess cognitive ability and learning difficulties. Clea is trained in Triple P and Circle of Security. Through her continued work with young people who have severe and complex mental health conditions, she is experienced in working with a range of difficulties including anxiety disorders (obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, social anxiety and panic), depressive disorders, trauma, eating disorders, adjustment disorders and developmental disorders (including attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism spectrum disorder). She is experienced in working with parents and has a passion for supporting parents with their reflective functioning and attachment needs using the Circle of Security framework. Dr Jayne Orr

Dr Jayne Orr is a Clinical Psychologist with the team at All About Kids. Jayne is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has experience in working with children, adolescents, and their families in inpatient, outpatient and community settings in the public and private sectors. Jayne has clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, bipolar disorders, trauma-related and stressor-related disorders, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties, perinatal mental health (antenatal and postnatal depression, parenthood adjustment, and attachment and bonding difficulties), grief and loss, adjustment to medical conditions, parenting support, peer relationship difficulties, family breakdown, and self-esteem problems. Her empathic, strengths-based therapeutic approach is founded on psychodynamic, family systems, developmental and attachment theories and she makes use of evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural, Bowenian, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused and Narrative techniques in her work with children, adolescents and their families. In addition, Jayne is able to conduct comprehensive cognitive psychometric assessments to assist in the diagnosis and management of children and adolescents with Intellectual Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other related neurodevelopmental conditions. Dr Michael Herd

Psychologist

Michael Herd is a Psychologist with the team at All About Kids. He is a registered Psychologist and an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. He has been working with children and families as a Teacher, Guidance Counsellor and Psychologist for more than 30 years. Michael has a particular interest in supporting families with parenting, difficult behaviour and children on the autistic spectrum. He also has a great deal of experience with childhood anxiety disorders (including OCD and phobias), depression and anger issues, and is proficient in psychometric, academic and behavioural assessments. His therapeutic approach is based upon Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy but he also uses other approaches such as Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, depending upon the individual needs of the client. Michael is a registered Trainer with Triple P International and has trained practitioners in Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has recently completed a PhD at the University of Queensland examining the effectiveness of preterm parenting intervention on later child behaviour.

Emma Wesche

Occupational Therapist

Emma is a creative, passionate and devoted therapist. She graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy with Honours. Emma discovered early on in her degree that she has a love for paediatrics and completed considerable research in this area focussing on sensory processing. She chose to focus her honours research project on paediatric Occupational Therapy, gaining a vast amount of knowledge including new and relevant findings. Emma was involved in creating a protocol for a pilot study at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Paediatric Outpatient Clinic. Emma has experience working in private paediatric clinics, schools, childcare centres and she has also volunteered with Inclusion Netball. Emma has experience working with children on fine and gross motor skills, toileting, play skills and emotional regulation. She worked with these children in a paediatric clinic setting while liaising with teachers and parents to maintain a family centred approach. Emma takes a holistic approach and aims to make all sessions client-centred to ensure they are engaging and motivating to help children achieve their goals. She uses her creativity and fun-loving attitude to build rapport and produce a positive and supportive environment for the children and families she works with. Emma takes a collaborative approach, involving the families, other allied health professionals and teachers in the therapy journey. She firmly believes that this helps to establish consistency of therapy strategies across all environments for the child.

Jo Woodhead

Speech Pathologist

Jo is our Senior Speech Pathologist, and is a certified practising Speech Language Pathologist with Speech Pathology Australia. She has nearly 20 years’ experience working with children in both clinical and educational settings, and has expertise across a range of children’s communication difficulties, including speech sound difficulties, developmental delays and school-aged language learning and literacy difficulties. Jo provides family and educationally focussed paediatric speech pathology services, and has undertaken significant professional development over the years. Recent training includes PODD, Explicit Vocabulary Instruction, Alex Kelly’s Talkabout Social Skills Training, Play Skills, Understanding Dyslexia, PROMPT, Language analysis using SALT, and Hanen Parent/Child Interaction Programs. Jo graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology from The University of Queensland in 1997, and aims to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment and management of children’s communication difficulties, using evidence based practice (EBP3) across the range of speech/language areas. She believes that developing strong communication skills in children and young people underpins all aspects of life, including social participation and lifelong learning.

Margaret Wills

Counsellor

Margie is a counsellor with a background in education. She has had considerable experience working with adolescents. Margie has an interest in the areas of ADHD, learning difficulties and ASD; particularly with respect to young people. Margie’s therapeutic approach is based on the techniques associated with CBT, SFT and Motivational Interviewing, but is dependent on the individual needs of clients. Specialist tutoring is also a possible consideration. Margie is also available for Counselling and Specialist Tutoring Support for secondary school students.

Mr Cameron O'Reilly

Cameron is a driven and passionate Occupational Therapist who strives to provide meaningful and enjoyable intervention to provide children with the best possible opportunity for growth. Cameron’s passions originate from experiencing the world of professional medicine/allied health from a young age in his own family background and seeing first hand the importance of a client and family centred approach to therapy. Having graduated from the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Cameron spent the first 2 years working within a private paediatric clinic in the north shore of Sydney. Cameron has various experiences in the disability and play therapy sectors, school-based and both public/private paediatric therapy fields.

Mr Peter Marcon

Psychologist – Assoc MAPS Postgrad. Dip. Psych, BSc (Psych), B.Ed, Dip. Teach (Primary) Peter has many years’ experience supporting children, adolescents and families across Brisbane and rural Queensland. Before practicing Psychology, Peter’s roles included Primary Teacher, Teaching Principal, Behaviour Support Teacher, Special Education Teacher and Developmental Guidance Officer. Peter is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA), is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is a fully registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Peter is an endorsed provider of psychological services through Medicare, and provides psychological services to NDIS recipients. Peter is passionate about helping children and families to develop resilience by learning to cope with and manage life challenges such as anxiety, emotional regulation, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bullying, grief, impulse control, school issues, life transitions, goal setting, and family change. His approach to intervention is tailored to the individual and is strengths based. Peter utilises Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Method of Levels and Mindfulness techniques, depending on client age, needs and goals. When working with younger children, Peter uses play-based approaches to ensure a positive rapport is established and meaningful engagement is maintained. Children have fun as part of therapy. Peter has a love of sports, music, health and fitness, the beach, and food from around the globe.

Mrs Debbie Walker

Speech Pathologist

Debbie has had a long career working with children and adolescents as a Speech and Language Pathologist. Her job has taken her around the world where she has had extensive experiences with supporting a wide range of people with speech, language and communication needs. In Scotland, Debbie had a lead role in an Autism Diagnostic Team in the North of Glasgow. Debbie has always enjoyed working closely with children and their families to help them find the best ways to enhance language and communication, as these skills are the building blocks to later social and educational success and literacy acquisition. Debbie is skilled at looking at the needs, motivations and interests for each client to find the way forward for each family. There is no one approach that fits all and Debbie assesses and plans intervention that best supports your child or young person.

Ms Maree Richardson

Speech Pathologist

Maree is a Speech Language Pathologist with international experience in clinical and educational settings. Born and raised in Outback Australia, health services were difficult for her family to access. Therefore, Maree has a strong desire for family-centered services to be accessible to children from all backgrounds, so that they grow to become confident citizens in their communities. Maree holds a Bachelor of Speech Pathology with Distinction from the University of Newcastle. She is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist (CPSP) and a member of Speech Pathology Australia. She also received her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Maree’s areas of expertise include early intervention, speech and language development, and literacy acquisition. She has experience providing individualised intervention to children with a variety of complex communication needs, and has been trained in the Sounds-Write approach to phonics and literacy.

Ms Vicky Jebsen

Vicky Jebsen is a Counsellor and Educational Consultant with the team at All About Kids. She has qualifications in both education and counselling, including research at Masters degree level in early childhood behaviour difficulties. Vicky has both undergraduate degrees in psychology and postgraduate degrees in counselling and education, and more than twenty-five years experience working with children and their families within early childhood settings, primary schools and TAFE. She has a passion for parenting and child behaviour management. With a background in Triple P, MYCP, 123 Magic and ABA she is able to provide an individualised level of support in this area. Vicky has extensive experience in learning difficulties, and is a coach for the working memory training program, COGMED. Simona Tanasie

Psychologist

Simona is a Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and also  a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS). She has full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Simona obtained her undergraduate psychology degree overseas, and then completed a Masters Degree at the University of South Australia. Throughout her studies, Simona has volunteered and worked in a range of settings including schools, hospitals and community services. She worked at a special needs school which involved supporting children who had been diagnosed with learning difficulties, intellectual disabilities or other mental health disorders. She also worked with adults experiencing adjustment difficulties following illness. Simona enjoys working with individuals of all ages. She adopts a warm, collaborative and non-judgemental approach to help her clients achieve goals and build resilience, in order to create lasting change and improve their quality of life. Simona is passionate about building relationships and working with people from diverse backgrounds and populations. Her main goal is to build rapport and help people feel comfortable, safe and supported in session. She values feedback and questions, and strives to meet each client’s needs with empathy, genuineness and unconditional positive regard. Simona has been trained in using a variety of evidence-based therapies to provide an individualised,  person-centred approach. Her clinical experience and training primarily include techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy but also draws from other approaches, such as Motivational Interviewing and Interpersonal Therapy. Tsun Fai (Kelvin) Ip

Psychologist

Tsun Fai Ip (Kelvin) is a general psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). He has extensive experience in childhood and adolescent mental health, such as emotional regulation, anxiety and anger management. Particularly, he is passionate about working with young individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing 1-on-1 psychological therapy. He is skilled in conducting diagnostic assessment for ASD (e.g., ADOS-2 and CARS-2), as well as cognitive and achievement assessment for developmental/learning-related difficulties (e.g., WISC-V and WIAT-III). Kelvin is an advocate of play-based therapy, an approach that has shown positive outcomes with regards to social communication development. In sessions, he often uses LEGO (a commonly adored tool) to create learning opportunities for his clients. Through joint activities and structured play, young individuals will be able to develop their social skills (e.g., turn-taking, sharing, and collaborative problem-solving).
