Overview

Dr Jayne Orr is a Clinical Psychologist with the team at All About Kids. Jayne is a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She has experience in working with children, adolescents, and their families in inpatient, outpatient and community settings in the public and private sectors. Jayne has clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, bipolar disorders, trauma-related and stressor-related disorders, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties, perinatal mental health (antenatal and postnatal depression, parenthood adjustment, and attachment and bonding difficulties), grief and loss, adjustment to medical conditions, parenting support, peer relationship difficulties, family breakdown, and self-esteem problems. Her empathic, strengths-based therapeutic approach is founded on psychodynamic, family systems, developmental and attachment theories and she makes use of evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural, Bowenian, Psychodynamic, Solution-Focused and Narrative techniques in her work with children, adolescents and their families. In addition, Jayne is able to conduct comprehensive cognitive psychometric assessments to assist in the diagnosis and management of children and adolescents with Intellectual Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other related neurodevelopmental conditions. Alongside her clinical practice, Jayne is a researcher at the Queensland University of Technology, a regular presenter and panel member at national and international psychotherapy conferences, and a reviewer for international peer-reviewed academic journals.
