M.A.C.A (Level 1)- Bachelor of Counselling Aimee is a counsellor who provides warm, developmentally informed, and client-centered therapeutic support across the lifespan. Her practice is guided by evidence-based approaches and tailored to each individual’s emotional, relational, and developmental needs. Aimee offers counselling that is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and responsive to neurodivergent profiles. She places a strong emphasis on building safety, connection, and emotional regulation as foundations for meaningful change. In addition to her counselling qualifications, Aimee has completed training in Schema Therapy and integrates schema-informed approaches into her work with adolescents and adults as well as Theraplay®-based training and is able to offer Theraplay-informed interventions. This approach is particularly supportive for children and families, focusing on attachment, connection, self-esteem, and co-regulation through structured, playful, and relational experiences. Brian Blythe

Psychologist

Brian is a registered psychologist at The Therapy Place WA. He works across the lifespan and supports individuals and families presenting with a broad range of concerns, including neurodevelopmental differences, emotional and behavioural regulation difficulties, learning challenges, and trauma-related presentations. Brian has experience across private practice, school-based psychology, and the NDIS sector. He has previously worked with the Department of Education through the Graduate School Psychology Program in Esperance, WA, and with SensesWA, providing evidence-based assessment and intervention and collaborating closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams. He holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Psychology from the University of Western Australia and has a strong interest in comprehensive psychological assessment and practical, strengths-based support. Brian brings a calm, compassionate, and ethical approach to his work and is committed to supporting meaningful outcomes for his clients and their families. Elizabea Jennings(She/her)

Psychologist

Liz is a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience providing psychological services across educational and community settings. She brings a strong background in behavioural intervention, case formulation, and evidence-based therapeutic practice, with experience supporting individuals with complex and comorbid presentations. Liz has worked extensively with children and adolescents, particularly those with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties and disabilities, attachment-related difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Her work in school-based settings has involved behavioural modification, Functional Behaviour Assessments, and collaborative intervention planning with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams. In addition to her work with young people, Liz is able to work therapeutically with adults, drawing on her broad clinical experience and structured, formulation-driven approach to intervention. Erin Akerstrom(She/her)

Psychologist

Erin is a Registered Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across mental health, disability, and out-of-home care systems. She has a strong background in trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice, with particular expertise in working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and behavioural challenges. Erin has worked across a range of clinical and community settings, providing therapeutic intervention, psychological assessment, and behaviour support for individuals with presentations including autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and complex emotional and behavioural needs. Her work has included collaboration with families, schools, government agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to support positive outcomes for clients across home, school, and community environments. Her therapeutic approach integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, play-based therapy, family therapy, and behavioural interventions. Erin also has significant experience conducting diagnostic assessments, functional behavioural assessments, and comprehensive psychological reports, and has contributed to the development of behaviour support plans and safety planning for individuals with complex needs. Heidi Welsh is the Director of The Therapy Place (WA) Pty Ltd and is a Registered Psychologist with experience in child development, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Learning Disorders. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and the Association for Research in Infant & Child Development (MARICD). Heidi is also a Board Approved Supervisor. Heidi coordinates the Mental Health Professionals Network for Autism in Bunbury and is actively involved with Red Nose Australia through event participation and the provision of bereavement support following pregnancy and infancy loss. This work is informed by both her professional background and lived experience. Heidi has completed EMDR training and integrates trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches into her clinical work where appropriate. She has also recently completed Theraplay®-based training and is currently working toward full certification in this modality. Heidi has a strong interest in early intervention and supporting individuals and families to navigate social, emotional, and developmental challenges. She is committed to collaborative, ethical practice and to providing tailored, developmentally informed support.

Jantina is a Provisional Psychologist who provides thoughtful, developmentally informed psychological support to children, adolescents, and adults. Her work is grounded in evidence-based practice and informed by a strong understanding of attachment, trauma, and neurodevelopment. Jantina has completed Theraplay®-based training and incorporates Theraplay-informed principles into her work with children and families. This approach emphasises safety, connection, co-regulation, and relational engagement, using structured and playful interactions to strengthen attachment and emotional regulation. She also has experience working with EMDR-informed approaches with both adults and children, supporting individuals who have experienced trauma and adverse life events. Jantina integrates trauma-informed care thoughtfully, ensuring interventions are paced, collaborative, and tailored to the developmental and emotional needs of each client. Jantina brings valuable international experience, having worked for five years in the Netherlands within paediatric developmental services. In this role, she supported children with a range of developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs and collaborated closely with families and multidisciplinary teams. This experience has strengthened her formulation skills and her capacity to work within complex developmental and psychosocial contexts. Jantina practises under supervision and in accordance with AHPRA requirements. Miss Elizabeth Phillips

Liz is a Registered Psychologist with extensive experience working across non-for-profit organisations, child development services, trauma-informed practice, and private practice settings. She brings a depth of clinical knowledge and a calm, thoughtful approach to her work with children and families. Liz has a strong background in early childhood development and is able to conduct Early Childhood Developmental Assessments, including administration of the Griffiths III. She has a particular interest in developmental and cognitive assessment and is often engaged for these assessments when specialist input is required. Her experience spans working with young children presenting with developmental delays, neurodevelopmental differences, and the impacts of early trauma. Liz’s approach is developmentally sensitive, evidence-based, and informed by a strong understanding of the interaction between developmental, emotional, and environmental factors. Liz has worked extensively within multidisciplinary contexts and values collaboration with families, early childhood services, and other professionals to support accurate assessment, meaningful recommendations, and practical outcomes. She currently works in a limited capacity and accepts assessment referrals selectively, with a particular focus on developmental and cognitive assessments where her expertise can be best utilised.
