Erin Akerstrom (She/her)Psychologist

Erin is a Registered Psychologist with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults across mental health, disability, and out-of-home care systems. She has a strong background in trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice, with particular expertise in working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and behavioural challenges. Erin has worked across a range of clinical and community settings, providing therapeutic intervention, psychological assessment, and behaviour support for individuals with presentations including autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and complex emotional and behavioural needs. Her work has included collaboration with families, schools, government agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to support positive outcomes for clients across home, school, and community environments. Her therapeutic approach integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, play-based therapy, family therapy, and behavioural interventions. Erin also has significant experience conducting diagnostic assessments, functional behavioural assessments, and comprehensive psychological reports, and has contributed to the development of behaviour support plans and safety planning for individuals with complex needs. Erin’s practice is grounded in a collaborative and strengths-focused approach, working alongside clients and their support networks to build practical skills, improve emotional regulation, and support long-term wellbeing.
