Overview

Sam is a Psychologist with general registration, who houses an array of life and professional experience in counselling and psychology across the lifespan. Sam is an empath in nature and aims to help understand, support and empower others. Sam aims to help people overcome various obstacles in life, and build resilience and strength within themselves. Sam enjoys working with adolescent and young adult females in particular, within the following areas: • Interpersonal relationships • Trauma and post-traumatic presentations • Borderline personality disorder • Anxiety and depression • Vocational counselling (study and work) • Self-esteem issues, and bullying • Perfectionist anxiety • Phobias and panic disorder • Self-image, body image, and eating disorders Sam has experience in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic treatment modalities, dependent upon the client's presentation and individual needs, including: • Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) - distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness • Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) • Vocational and rehabilitation counselling • Mindfulness and relaxation therapy • Interpersonal therapy, Attachment therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy • Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) • General psycho-education, strength-based work, and skills building (i.e. communication skills, anger management, sleep hygiene, self-esteem) • Motivational interviewing and behavioural activation In her spare time, Sam enjoys spending time with family, friends and her gorgeous Cavoodle; going to the gym; dancing; self-care and personal and professional development; yoga and Pilates; and escape rooms!

Education

  • Bachelor of Psychology, 2nd class, division A Honours (Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus, QLD) - 2005
  • Post Graduate Certificate of Practical Psychology (College of Professional Psychology - Crows Nest, Sydney, NSW) - 2011
