Mr Stephen Huckerby

Counsellor

I am a social work oriented tele-health counsellor with over twenty years of experience working in family and legal systems, supporting individuals and families through complex, high-pressure situations to achieve lasting change. I have a strong understanding of how stress, responsibility, relationships, and life demands impact men and couples in real and practical ways. My work with men focuses on creating a space that is straightforward, respectful, and grounded. I understand that many men are not looking for overly clinical or abstract conversations—they want clarity, direction, and a way forward. I support men to better understand their responses to stress, improve communication, regain a sense of control, and make practical changes that strengthen their functioning at work, in relationships, and in everyday life. In working with couples, I bring a balanced and structured approach. I help partners navigate difficult conversations, unpack recurring patterns, and move beyond gridlock. This includes clarifying expectations, improving communication, rebuilding trust where needed, and developing realistic, shared goals. My approach is not about taking sides, but about helping both people feel heard while working toward constructive outcomes. Across both areas, I bring extensive experience in: - facilitating honest, structured conversations around sensitive issues - supporting people through conflict, stress, and relationship breakdown - developing clear, achievable goals and action plans - working through barriers and setbacks in a steady, solution-focused way - maintaining a focus on safety, accountability, and long-term wellbeing My therapeutic style is calm, practical, and collaborative. I aim to provide a space where clients can speak openly, gain clarity, and walk away with a clearer understanding of what to do next. The focus is on real-world change—improving communication, strengthening relationships, and building a more stable and workable path forward. I offer private counselling and psychosocial support. I am not a diagnostic service.
