Overview

My journey toward a career in psychology has been shaped by a deep-seated passion for understanding the human mind and a desire to make a meaningful impact on people's lives. From a young age, I was fascinated by the complexities of human behaviour and the various factors that influence mental health. This curiosity led me to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Flinders University and honour studies at Southern Cross University, where I gained a solid foundation in psychological theories, assessment methodologies, and clinical practices. Moving into my career working for the government employment services and private NDIS provider, I have gained valuable practical experience over the years. These experiences allowed me to witness the therapeutic process firsthand and understand the importance of empathy, active listening, and culturally sensitive care. I was particularly moved by the resilience of clients, which further fuelled my desire to provide support and advocacy for those struggling with mental health issues. Through a combination of research-backed interventions and creative problem-solving, I empower individuals to develop the skills and strategies they need to thrive in all aspects of their lives. As a both English and Mandarin -speaking professional, I specialize in working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly those in the Chinese-speaking community. I understand that mental health concerns can often present unique challenges for patients from culturally specific backgrounds. My experience working with clients from Chinese and other East Asian cultures enables me to offer culturally sensitive therapy and support. I believe that the roots of psychological suffering can be addressed, and deeper, long-lasting changes can happen within a reasonable time frame. The most important thing is how you can make sense of the suffering and find deep meaning under it. Quote: “Sometimes misfortune is a blessing in disguise”
