Mr Gary Rubin Psychologist

Info

Overview

Gary is one of Reflection Psychology Group’s principal psychologists, and has more than 15 years of experience in the field of psychology. He works with individuals, couples and families from all backgrounds. He uses a variety of approaches that he believes will be most effective based on both the issue he is working with and the experience he has in understanding what will best suit the person he is assisting. With a great passion in Emotion Focussed Therapy, Gary believes that much of our deeper present day struggles are linked to past experiences and perhaps the unresolved or non-addressed understandings or emotions associated with them. Gary also believes that often the issues presented in counselling are rather the symptoms of the underlining issue and hence it is often ‘deeper’ therapy as opposed to ‘band-aid’ therapy that provides positive and sustainable change. Gary works with clients of all ages and feels that the ideal recipe for effective therapy is self-honesty, commitment and an authentic relationship between the therapist and client. Gary relies heavily on the combination of his knowledge and experience together with his intuition to assist people. His experience extends to group therapy, training and facilitation of individuals and corporate groups as well as the provision of individual and group peer consultation and mentoring for mental health professionals. Gary’s clients would describe him as direct and challenging but also authentic and nurturing.
