Lesley is a sex positive and LBTIQA+ inclusive psychologist with experience working with clients from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, cultures, sexual orientations, and gender identities. She believes that it is through connection and vulnerability within the self and with others that we can achieve long term transformational change. With this is mind, she is passionate about supporting her clients through building a safe and secure therapeutic space where expression, vulnerability and connectedness is nurtured and encouraged. Lesley aims to form strong therapeutic relationships with each client which are underpinned by authenticity, empathy, and openness.
Lesley has worked across a range of clinical psychology settings, supporting clients with varied and complex mental health presentations, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related disorders. Her areas of experience include supporting clients with depression, anxiety, stress, grief and loss, body image concerns, and navigating periods of change. Lesley brings a strong foundation in working with trauma, including recent and historical experiences of sexual trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, and childhood sexual trauma, and she is skilled in supporting clients in navigating the ongoing impacts of these experiences. Lesley draws on a number of therapeutic modalities and approaches in order to tailor her treatment to the needs of her clients.
Lesley has extensive experience supporting clients across a broad range of relational and sexual health concerns, including intimacy and sexual health anxiety, relationship transitions (including separation and infidelity), and sexual pain conditions (i.e., vulvodynia, vaginismus, dyspareunia). Her work also includes supporting individuals experiencing desire and arousal dissatisfaction, including differences in libido and erectile difficulties. She provides affirming care for LGBTIQA+ clients, those in non-monogamous relationships, sex workers, and individuals seeking sexual education.
Lesley holds a special interest and experience in working in the relationship and attachment space. She works with clients to understand how their early experiences and relational or familial dynamics have shaped how they relate to themselves and others in adulthood. She works to help clients gain and use psychological insight to promote self-compassion, process past experiences and trauma, and shift maladaptive patterns.
