Katie Smoker – Counsellor & Psychotherapist Counselling & Psychotherapy for Trauma, Anxiety, Relationships & Personal Growth Katie Smoker is a compassionate and dedicated counsellor and psychotherapist supporting individuals, couples and families experiencing trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, social anxiety, OCD, insomnia, eating disorders, low self-esteem, identity concerns, boundary difficulties and relationship challenges. Katie has a strong academic foundation in psychology and counselling, advanced clinical training, and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II). Katie has a particular clinical interest in trauma and stress-related difficulties, including PTSD and complex PTSD. She also supports clients experiencing anxiety, depression, social anxiety, OCD, insomnia, eating disorders, self-esteem and identity concerns, as well as interpersonal and relationship difficulties. Her approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed and evidence-based, integrating therapeutic approaches according to each client's needs and goals. Her clinical training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy for Trauma, CBT-I for insomnia, CBT-E for eating disorders and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Katie also has training in Gottman Method Levels I and II, couples communication, boundary setting and male sexuality. Couples Counselling Katie works with couples who want to improve communication, emotional connection and relationship patterns, including difficulties with conflict, boundaries and expressing needs. Her couples work draws on her training in the Gottman Method. Katie’s Approach Katie is committed to creating a safe, respectful and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. She works collaboratively with each person to develop greater self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience and communication, understand patterns that may be contributing to difficulties, and create meaningful and lasting change. Her aim is to support clients towards greater confidence, healthier relationships and a more connected and purposeful life.
