Jay aims to create a judgement fee, welcoming space that embraces full authenticity. He is aware and considerate of emotional, physical and sensory needs, fostering a safe space to explore inner thoughts and feelings. His approach facilitates the journey toward acceptance and understanding of all parts of the self and helping clients find a path forward to a fulfilled life.
In private practice, Jay has worked with clients from a wide range of diverse backgrounds and communities. He has significant experience and is passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients through complex trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and relationship issues, supporting them in their journey to become their authentic and unapologetic selves. Working with and supporting clients in non-traditional relationship structures, Jay helps address the internal complexities of these relationships as well as challenges that arise within the broader community.
Jay has a strong interest in working with individuals experiencing intimacy anxiety, sexual anxiety and relationship dissatisfaction including separation support. He is experienced in working with clients experiencing grief and loss, stress and supporting those presenting with BPD, complex PTSD and the behaviours that can accompany such experiences.
Jay is a proud autistic, bisexual individual.
Outside of work, Jay has many special interests, but music, both creating and consuming, is the most consistent. If he’s not immersing himself in music, Jay is most likely watching a film.
Please note that Jay also has experience supporting clients in a range of other mental and sexual health areas beyond what’s listed here. If you’d like to know more, please reach out to our intake team at intake@shipspsychology.com.au.
