Andy Lyu (they/them) is a member of the sexual and gender diverse/queer community, a psychologist and psychotherapist, a previous social activist, and, a human with all sorts of strengths and soft spots. Andy has been practising counselling in Australia since 2021 and specialise in neurodivergent affirming counselling, gender affirming counselling, attachment trauma treatment, and family-based therapy for adolescent depression, substance misuse, self-injurious behaviour, and suicide prevention. Prior to studying psychology and embarking on a new career in Australia, Andy had worked in China from 2012 in social welfare and community development with the disability and sexual and gender diverse communities. Andy’s approach is collaborative and compassionate. They draw on knowledge and skills from a range of therapy modalities, alongside lived experience and reflexivity, to work towards the best possible outcomes with and for their clients.
