Amber Abbott is an experienced clinical psychologist and brings a gentle and warm approach to helping clients understand and overcome their challenges. With over 17 years of experience, Amber has enjoyed working as a Psychologist with a diverse range of adult clients and running group therapy programs. She has worked with a wide range of clients, in a range of settings including community mental health, private inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient group therapy, and in private practice. Amber has also enjoyed working on various multidisciplinary teams assisting people effectively cope with the mental and emotional impacts of living with chronic health conditions including cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, and Parkinson’s Disease. Her approach as a Psychologist is collaborative and solution focused.
With training in a number of evidence-based therapies, Amber offers a range of psychological therapies including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Amber believes that the best springboard for meaningful change is first accepting yourself as you are. Therefore, when needed she weaves strategies for self-compassion and mindfulness through her approach to helping clients achieve their goals and overcome life’s hurdles.
