She has vast experience as a clinician from her time spent as a Crisis Support Counsellor at Lifeline; school psychologist in the public education system working with adolescents and families; Intensive support worker for individuals with significant mental health issues and their families; Educator/counsellor at Cyrenian House working with individuals, significant others, couples and families regarding alcohol and other drug issues within the legal and community systems; Therapist for victims, families and perpetrators of all forms of domestic and personal violence; Couples and Families therapist assisting navigation of life’s stressors inclusive of FIFO challenges and implementing family system harmony. Early intervention is key. Bernadette works from a person-centred, psycho-social-biological, and systems models utilising evidence-based treatment approaches such as Interpersonal Therapy (IT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to achieve positive outcomes.
