I am a mental performance coach working for 'Winning From Within'. I work with high performers such as elite athletes and sports people to provide uniquely tailored solutions to rapidly overcome mental barriers such as performance anxiety. I have over 16 years of experience as a registered psychologist, and have owned my own private practice 'Your Local Psychologist' for over 8 years. People have described me as being warm, dedicated and caring. I will do whatever it takes to help you get the result you are looking for. I use a variety of approaches to provide a solution that is right for you, so that you can return to the things that are most important to you in life. There are two ways of working together. That is to either do Accelerated Break Through sessions, or a High Performance Coaching package of either 3 or 6 month durations (with a session each fortnight). I am happy to answer any questions you might have, to first ensure that we are the right fit for each other, then to work out what solution is right for you.

Dr Sharlene Benton

Psychologist

Dr Sharlene Benton helps clients to live their best life. Her warm, empathic and down-to-Earth approach assists clients to feel supported and safe in exploring their difficulties and facilitates clients to build upon their strengths to achieve their goals. Through this process, she aims for clients to develop a stronger sense of identity, foster meaningful relationships and feel a sense of purpose. She believes that the foundation of any effective psychotherapy is an honest and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Sharlene has advanced skills in Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, has co-presented for the Australian Psychological Society on managing suicide risk from a psychological perspective, and provides consultation for other psychologists requiring support and up-skilling in managing clinical risk and complex presentations. Her extensive experience in the public mental health sector, and expertise in clinical psychology support her interest in working with clients that have high prevalence disorders (such as depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and personality vulnerabilities) and/or low prevalence disorders (Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Psychotic Disorders, including first episode psychosis).
