Vanessa (she/her) is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist with a special focus on supporting Autistic and ADHD individuals from childhood to adulthood (particularly the internalising presentations often seen in individuals who identify as female). She also supports families to enhance their understanding of their neurodivergent children's unique ways of relating and to respond effectively to their children's stress ("challenging") behaviours.
Vanessa adopts a neurodiversity-affirming approach, which involves understanding the Autistic and ADHD neurologies as different expressions of normal human functioning rather than developmental deficits, whilst recognising the disabilities Autistic and ADHD individuals experience due to barriers in their neurotypical environments (and working to make these more inclusive). Her therapy style is collaborative and respects the neurodivergent individual’s preferred ways of communicating, pattern of abilities, and personal goals.
Vanessa is a clinician with professional and lived experience of neurodivergence. She is LGBTQIA+ friendly. During in-person sessions, she works alongside her wonderful therapy dogs, Mikro and Megiddo (Megi). Vanessa conducts all adult assessments and therapy sessions via telehealth, but in-person sessions can be arranged if a client's well-being requires this. She is currently not taking new clients for in-person therapy sessions.
