Ann has studied clinical psychology and worked with individuals and families across the lifespan. She has experience in anxiety, adjustment, and depression. Ann’s major area of interest is working in the perinatal field with women who are experiencing some adjustment in this major life transition. She has also worked with fathers who may be experiencing emotional issues during this period. She offers a range of psycho-therapeutic interventions tailored to meet the individuals’ needs including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, attachment-based interventions, compassion focused therapy and solution focused therapy working with the individual to find what best meets their needs and goals in therapy.
Ann is a trained and experienced facilitator for Circle of Security Parent groups (DVD programme) and has specialised training in running groups for post-natal depression. Ann has worked in the public health system for 20 years in a variety of fields including perinatal, pain management, mental health, acquired brain injury and vision impairment in both community and hospital settings. Ann is warm and welcoming and understands the courage it takes to attend therapy. She values the relationship she has with her clients and is respectful and accepting of their needs.
Ann completed a Diploma of Teaching (Primary) in 1988 before embarking on a career in psychology. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 1993 at Macquarie University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Child Psychology in 1995 at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), before moving to Brisbane and completing a Master of Clinical Psychology in 1998 at the University of Queensland.
She is a registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychology Society. She is currently working in research at the Stillbirth Centre of Excellence through the Mater Research Institute – University of Queensland (MRI-UQ).
