You're looking for a psychologist who is warm and collaborative, but also enjoys going a little deeper to understand what's underneath the difficulties you're experiencing. You may be caught in anxiety or worry, experiencing intrusive thoughts or compulsions, avoiding things because of fear, or struggling with panic or health anxiety. You might recognise patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing or recurring core beliefs. Tess may also be a good fit if you're navigating pregnancy, the transition to parenthood, PMDD, or the psychological impact of endometriosis or PCOS. Tess's Approach Tess believes therapy should be evidence-based while still recognising the individual person and their experiences. Her approach is warm, collaborative and trauma-informed. She draws primarily upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and incorporates Schema Therapy-informed approaches when exploring deeper patterns and core beliefs. For OCD and anxiety-related concerns, Tess also uses Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Perinatal Mental Health Tess has a particular interest in supporting people throughout pregnancy, the postnatal period and the transition to parenthood. Her Master's research focused on postpartum psychosis, contributing to her knowledge and interest in complex perinatal mental health presentations.
