Sweeney O'Heare-Young Psychologist

Sweeney O’Heare-Young is a Clinical Psychologist and the Director of A Healing Place Psychology Clinic. He offers a warm and relaxed style, aiming to build a good understanding of where you are at, how you got there, and where you would like to be. Sweeney draws from many different schools of evidence-based therapy, integrating them dynamically to suit each individual. His therapeutic approaches include Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Rumination Focused ERP (RF-ERP) for OCD, Pure O, and Rumination, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), and Crisis and Supportive Counselling. Sweeney sees clients aged 15 and over and welcomes all gender identities. He does not offer couples therapy, family therapy, or specialised care for people with eating disorders or schizophrenia. His first question to clients is, “What is the problem you are seeking help with?” Sweeney believes that enduring psychological suffering is unnecessary and that healing is possible.
