Amanda Axsentieff

Psychologist

Amanda completed her Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of the Sunshine Coast (investigating the effect of a Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy intervention on the levels of guilt and depression of carers who had placed their loved one into aged care). She has clinical experience providing evidence based psychological treatments (Cognitive-Behaviour therapy and Interpersonal therapy) to individuals across the lifespan and has a particular interest in working with older adults. Specifically, Amanda’s interests include working with clients to overcome challenges associated with: Depression and Mood Disorders, Anxiety, Grief and Loss, Addiction, Obsessive-Compulsive Related Disorders, Adjustment to Dementia diagnosis and Aged Care Placement. She also has an interest in providing support to people with Intellectual Disabilities. Amanda is a Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA) and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and APS Clinical College.

Peter Chiverton

Psychologist

Peter is a registered Clinical Psychologist. He is committed to providing collaborative psychotherapy based on warmth, compassion and respect. He enjoys working with adolescents and adults, using evidence-based treatments for difficulties relating to anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, and relationships. Peter believes in the value of adopting strategies to help clients with their present-day difficulties, while also exploring previous circumstances that may have led to these experiences, promoting wellbeing through greater understanding. This approach aims to provide shorter term support, while helping clients to better understand themselves, identify meaningful goals and tangible strategies, and make lasting changes to improve overall wellbeing. Peter has worked in private practice, public hospitals, and community mental health, treating a wide range of psychological difficulties across the lifespan, including experience working with inpatients in acute mental health services. Peter has a broad life experience, previously working in engineering, management and financial roles. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and APS Clinical College. Peter uses various therapeutic approaches to inform treatment based on evidence, including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
