With a warm, relaxed style balanced by understanding and empathy, Lani tailors therapy depending on clients’ needs and goals, emphasising a strong relationship between client and therapist. Lani brings strong advocacy skills and an empathetic approach to her work when supporting young people through unsafe or difficult experiences. She has had experience working across inpatient and outpatient settings through private and public mental health treating various mental health disorders. Tara is a registered art psychotherapist and counsellor dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of children, young people, and families. She has worked across acute inpatient, outpatient, and community mental health settings, with experience providing both individual and group-based therapeutic care. Tara’s approach is collaborative, client-centred, and explorative, grounded in empathy, playfulness, and a commitment to cultivating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. She works multimodally, integrating evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed strategies to best meet each client’s needs and goals. Her practice is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and strengths-based, recognising and respecting each client’s unique experiences and ways of understanding themselves and the world around them. Tara is passionate about the intersection of psychology and creative therapies and values the integration of verbal and non-verbal processes to support a holistic approach to mental health care. Outside of work, she is an avid op-shopper, tea drinker, and lover of the arts who enjoys keeping active and adventuring with her loved ones.
