Dr Zoya Jamshidi

Psychologist

Dr. Zoya Jamshidi is a fully qualified clinical and counselling psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. Zoya holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Psychology from The University of Sydney, and a Doctorate degree in Counselling Psychology from Macquarie University. Zoya’s doctoral research focused on co-occurring anxiety and depression and the role of family functioning in adolescent anxiety and depression. Zoya has experience delivering both group and individual treatments in hospitals and outpatient clinics, helping people discover the necessary awareness and skills needed to manage or resolve their difficulties. Zoya has also been responsible for developing and implementing group treatment programs for adults attending a mood and anxiety disorders psychiatric unit, as well as providing an outreach program for HSC students in country areas. For over 6 years, Zoya worked towards gaining specialist experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders at the Macquarie University Emotional Health Clinic. Zoya remains actively involved with Macquarie University, delivering lectures in Ethics to fourth year psychology students. With a special interest in using evidence-based therapies, Zoya utilises a range of techniques drawing from Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy,Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance-Based Therapies. In particular, Zoya has clinical experience and interest in providing treatment within a schema therapy framework, useful for clients wishing to better understand and resolve ongoing emotional and behavioural difficulties, including relationship problems, poor self-esteem, difficulties dealing with intense emotion, and with long-standing mood and anxiety problems. Bound by the professional regulations and ethical codes of conduct set by the Psychology Board of Australia and the Australian Psychological Society, Zoya is committed to providing a high quality of care to all her clients within a warm and supportive therapeutic environment. She aims to continuously further her clinical knowledge through ongoing professional education and training.
