Dr Karina Rune is a Clinical Psychologist with experience in treating adolescents and adults presenting with anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, personality disorders, and stress-related difficulties. Her approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.
Drawing on her background in clinical research and psychological science, she offers a compassionate, insight-oriented therapy style aimed at fostering self-understanding and long-term wellbeing.
During her clinical training, Karina worked closely with the Healthy Brain Aging clinic identifying current dementia risk profiles in aging adults & lifestyle programs aimed at reducing this risk. She also worked at the Adem Crosby Cancer Centre at the University of the Sunshine Coast Hospital where she provided psychological support to both cancer patients & their families.
Outside of NPST, Karina is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). She speaks several languages and holds a Master’s degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Edinburgh. Karina spent several years travelling in Asia & the Middle East before settling in Australia in 2003.
