Hi, my name is Nicole Cashin (she/her).
I am Eating Disorder Credentialled, Size-Inclusive, Neuro-Affirming dietitian and nutritionist. Although I am based in Melbourne, More Than Nutrients is a fully online clinic – meaning I can support people from anywhere in Australia.
I understand that eating and mealtimes can be complicated and created More Than Nutrients to empower you to become an expert in managing your health or the health of your child.
I chose the name More Than Nutrients to reflect my belief that although the foods we eat have an impact on our body, the role food plays in our life extends far beyond it’s nutritional content.
A theme I often explore with my clients is ‘what does food mean to you?’ Some of the responses I commonly hear include ‘community’, ‘connection’, ‘pleasure’, ‘excitement’, ‘a creative outlet’… I also hear ‘pain’, ‘discomfort’, ‘fear’, ‘trauma’, ‘functional’, ‘a chore’.
To me, food is not just a source of vitamins and minerals; it holds the power to evoke memories, shape cultural identities, and provide comfort. By emphasising that there is more to food than it’s nutrients, I aim to guide my clients in understanding the multifaceted roles of food in their lives.
This perspective encourages a mindful, compassionate, and comprehensive journey towards a more sustainable relationship with food – one that acknowledges both systemic (i.e., social, political, and economic ) and individual factors (i.e., personalities, traits, preferences, and past experiences) at every step of the therapy process.
Currently I am supporting people with:
