They have personally and professionally experienced and observed discrimination, intimidation, misgendering and pathologisation associated with Mental Health distress. Therefore, they aim to provide a safe affirming space for individuals to work towards recovery in a non-judgemental way which celebrates diversity and uniqueness. Abby offers LGBTQIA+, ND, TGD affirming care and uses a client centered, culturally sensitive and inclusive, holistic & trauma informed lens to deliver Psychological and Positive Behaviour Therapies and Sensory & Interoception interventions to enhance your sense of emotional, physical and psychological safety. Enhances your sense of body, self and time and improves your Window of Tolerance and accessing your Executive Cognitive Functioning, Which in turn assists with emotional regulation, impulse control, improve social engagement and occupational performance to complete purposeful and meaningful activities. Abby also delivers - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) (Auditory Hallucinations/ Voice Hearers, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, TGD Affirming for individuals who experience anxiety, Chronic pain, intrusive thoughts, OCD and for behaviour change and activation e.g. Eating, Substance Use, Exercise.) Professional Experience- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) & Neurodivergent Friendly DBT Somatic Interventions- Trauma Sensitive Yoga Clinical Practice, Body Scans, Breathing Techniques and Progressive Muscle Relaxation to support interoception or our 8th sense- Awareness of self, body and time and connecting emotions which our physical sensations and bodily movement. This can assist with Alexithymia, releasing and working through deeply entrenched traumatic memories and emotions and increasing Mental and Physical Health and engaging with others and our environment in meaningful ways

Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Masters in Occupational Therapy
  • Bachelor of Arts- Psychology
  • APMA Pilates Movement Practitioner

Accreditations

  • Occupational Therapy Australia Endorsed Mental Health Practitioner
  • AUSTPATH Lived Experience and Allied Health Therapist Member
