In my work I value honesty and openness, and hold a strong personal and professional viewpoint that there can always something better for you in any given adverse (bad) situation.
Vicki became a psychologist after working as a Registered Nurse for an extended period. She completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology then a coursework Master’s in psychology, and then undertook a second Master Honours in psychology research. Vicki also completed a 2-year internship in counselling psychology and is a registered psychologist the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. Vicki is trained in a number of psychological interventions: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, and stress lowering strategies.
Vicki only works with adults. She has worked extensively in tertiary education offering support for adult students with personal, educational and vocation concerns. She has worked across metropolitan and rural settings, with a wide range of people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and with people with long term mental health diagnoses. Vicki also has skills and experience working with adults who experience with complex disabilities including: physical, intellectual, neurological and psychosocial disorders and co-morbidities. She has an understanding of the impact of both having a disability, and of being a carer for someone with a disability.
Vicki works from works from a trauma informed, holistic perspective and a strength- based, resilience building, skill enhancing, client focused approach.
