Overview

I'm Veronica, a Clinical Counsellor dedicated to helping you navigate life's ordinary and extraordinary challenges. Whilst we can't make life flawless, together we can work towards healing from past experiences and better managing tough times. My priority is to develop a safe, trusting relationship to support your exploration of life's complexities. To enable this, I provide a safe, trauma-informed, non-judgmental, person-centred therapeutic space. I combine various talk therapy approaches with Somatic Experiencing® (SE) techniques. SE taps into the body’s natural ability to resolve traumatic stress, supports nervous system health and regulation. I have found it’s impact to be profound. You may be dealing with a specific issue or seeking general support. My experience is working with clients dealing with: Significant life changes • Grief or loss • Overwhelm • Anxiety or depression • Difficult relationships • Persistent health challenges • Unhelpful patterns of behaviour including addiction to drugs or alcohol • Childhood, past or current trauma I offer individual therapy, facilitate psychoeducation groups and grief and loss groups. I work from a beautiful room in McKell Park, Darling Point for in person sessions, or we can meet online. I offer a safe, trauma informed, non-judgemental space to support your exploration of the complexities of being human, and to support your healing from the challenges you have and are experiencing. Individual sessions held in person in a beautiful room at the heart of McKell Park, Darling Point. Sessions are also offered online for your convenience. A standard session is 50-minutes. For the first session, I like to spend 1.5 hours with a client. I facilitate psychoeducation groups which offer a confidential and respectful place to develop self-awareness, learn and explore skills to better navigate life's challenges. Groups use the benefits of peer-support, personal reflection and guided learning. Groups can be tailored to specific needs as required. I also facilitate Grief and Loss Support groups. Exploring the Seasons of Grief is a small group program designed to help people and communities understand and attend well to their grief following change and loss experiences. Groups support connection with others going through similar circumstances, fosters emotional literacy and resilience as a pathway to improved social and emotional wellbeing. These are psychoeducation groups with therapeutic benefits. Subject to funding, groups are offered free of charge in the community. Alongside my private practice, I work with men transitioning out of homelessness at Mission Australia Centre. I see clients individually and run group programs. My groups introduce skills to help navigate the discomforts we inevitably face and nurture peer support. I am a member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia with a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, and an intermediate level student in SE™ Professional Training and integrate Somatic Experiencing® techniques” in my practice. I am trained in Emotionally Focussed Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Complex Trauma and Suicide Prevention and supporting people experiencing Domestic Violence [DV).
