Tonya completed her science degree with honours, majoring in psychology, at the University of NSW (BSc Hons) and her Psychology Masters degree at La Trobe University. She subsequently undertook the two year post masters Child Clinical Psychology Training Programme, finishing in 1989, which allowed her to focus on all areas of child, adolescent and family assessment and therapy. Such areas included child abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, learning difficulties and developmental disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. She subsequently undertook further training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Meditation. Tonya worked for over twenty years in CAMHS, firstly as a clinical psychologist and then as a senior clinical psychologist, in addition to having a private practice. Currently she works in private practice, seeing children, adolescents, parents and families, as well as supervising.
