Overview

Sushmita is a Registered Psychologist with a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) and a Bachelor of Psychological Studies (Honours) from Western Sydney University. She also holds a Master of Professional Psychology from the University of Newcastle and completed the 5+1 pathway to registration in Australia. Sushmita is a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi). She is formally trained in administering comprehensive neurodevelopmental and psychological assessments, including those for Autism, ADHD, learning disorders, and intellectual disability. In therapy, Sushmita takes an eclectic, evidence-based approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She is also trained in the 1-2-3 Magic and Emotion Coaching Parenting Program and is a Registered Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) Facilitator. Sushmita is extremely passionate about early intervention and takes a neuro-affirming, compassionate, and culturally responsive approach to helping children and young people build resilience and lead more fulfilling lives. Collaboration is central to her work, so she often works closely with families, schools, and other professionals to create a holistic approach when supporting her clients. Known for her creativity, warmth, and playfulness, Sushmita makes therapy engaging and accessible for her young clients. She works with children and adolescents presenting with a range of neurodevelopmental and mental health needs, including anxiety and mood disorders, Autism, ADHD, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and parenting support. Outside of work, Sushmita enjoys exploring new places, spending time in nature, baking, and getting creative with arts and crafts.
