Ms Mariyah Shahrin (She/her)Counsellor

Nest Psychology Brisbane L1, 524 Milton rd, Toowong, Queensland, 4066

Overview

Hi and thank you for being here! I'm Mariyah (she/her), a registered counsellor in Brisbane. I have a strong curiosity for people, the human experience and assisting people in achieving their best potential and life goals. I am passionate in working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, people of colour, neurodivergent folk as well as everyone else who experiences mental health concerns. I enjoy taking a person-centred approach where you get to lead where our sessions go — whether that is to “fix” a particular problem you’re experiencing, or to better understand yourself. I see anyone above the age of 14, including young adults and adults through in-person and telehealth sessions. My counselling approach is holistic, where I will often try to get to know what’s happening in all aspects of your life to try to create a well-rounded understanding of your strengths and experiences. I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, combining interventions that will fit your needs. I strive to approach sessions in a curious and compassionate manner, prioritising your needs. I like to base sessions on the value of connection and curiosity, so our initial sessions will be based on getting to know you and your story for you to get a sense of it we're the right fit. If you feel that my approach resonates with you and what you're experiencing, please don't hesitate to reach out! You can do this by contacting Nest Psychology Brisbane's administration team. I look forward to connecting with you!
