Ms Kellie Hansen Counsellor

Kellie Hansen is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 5 years of experience working in the Bunbury and Melbourne communities. She takes a strength based, trauma informed, holistic and collaborative approach that is sensitive to her client’s needs, to build warmth, trust, safety and rapport within the therapeutic relationship. Kellie has worked with children, adolescents and adults in a range of areas including domestic violence, sexual assault, war trauma and torture, neurological conditions, Employee Assistance Programs and forensics. She has experience supporting people with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, suicidal ideation, chronic pain, life limiting illnesses, trauma, stress management, relationship issues, parenting, anger and psycho education. Kellie’s interest area, along with trauma, grief and loss, includes nutrition and mental health. This has led to her currently studying a Certificate in Nutritional Advice to further explore the impact that nutrition has on mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. In her work, Kellie draws on a range of therapeutic interventions including Focused Psychological Strategies, Neurobiology, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, Expressive Therapies and Play Therapy. She regularly undertakes professional development to ensure her knowledge and skills are consistently improved and updated. Outside of work, Kellie is an animal lover, fostering kittens and cats for a local animal rescue organisation and enjoying the challenge of training her 15-month-old pup to one day become a therapy dog. She also enjoys her family, bush walks, practicing mindfulness and reading.
