Overview

I always remind myself that even though psychology is part of my every day, for you, taking that first step to reach out for support, can be a big step. So, with this in mind, it is really important to me that I provide a judgement-free, warm and professional space, for you. I like to provide a space within which you can reflect, reframe, and refocus on what is important to you. I was initially drawn to the psychology profession as I was interested in developing a deeper understanding of the mind and body connection. I believe that a healthier mind, leads to a healthier life. I really enjoy assisting people in developing a clearer and stronger sense of who they are, and helping them bring more purpose and meaning into their lives. Kathie McDonald completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Kathie uses evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Kathie has worked as a lecturer in psychology at the University of Southern Queensland, and has served a term as a branch chair for the Australian Psychological Society. Kathie enjoys helping a broad range of people aged 16 years and over, and has a keen interest in helping people adjust to various life transitions such as changes in work, relationships, and parenthood. Kathie also has extensive experience in helping women work through issues related to sexual intimacy. For over a decade, Kathie has worked with clients in hospital settings (oncology and palliative care), in the community, and in private practice.
