Overview

Hi I'm Karen! I'm very passionate about empowering people to realise their true potential. I'm here to guide you to go beyond your thoughts and to discover your true self and the light that shines within you. While traditional psychology deals with the mind, my approach looks at the person as a whole, taking into consideration mind, body and breath. I use a client centred approach to therapy which is integrative and empirically based. My therapeutic approach is formulated on the unique needs of each client. I assess each person on their individual situation and draw on the most clinically appropriate tools to meet that particular person’s needs. My approach includes CBT, ACT, Interpersonal Therapy, Positive Psychology as well as Yoga Therapy, which is a complimentary system, utilising the tools of Classical Yoga to achieve therapeutic benefit for mind and body. Karen is a clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience. She has completed a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, as well as a Diploma in Yoga Therapy. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement and Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Interpersonal Therapy, Positive Psychology and in depth training in meditation and breathing techniques taught by a medical doctor/yoga therapist in India. She has lived in Bali for the past 4 years to immerse herself in the simplicity of life and to further her studies in meditation and yoga. Karen works with adolescents and adults, with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, work stress, relationship issues, interpersonal difficulties, low self esteem, cultural issues, personal growth and spirituality. She has worked in a range of settings, including private practice, community health, specialised trauma unit, as well as schools and university. She has also spent a considerable amount of time in India and Bali and developed an appreciation and understanding of other cultures and religions.
