TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) Remedial Massage is also known as TuiNa (Twee-nah), it has a long history and a growing reputation in the west for its holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to health care. Drawing on the knowledge from traditional Chinese medicine and body work this manual therapy treats both the condition and the clients’ fundamental constitution. TuiNa is one of the oldest and simplest forms of healing massage.
TuiNa treatments address a wide range of disorders working with touch to release musculoskeletal issues, assist in pain management, menstruation problems, relaxation and maintenance. These techniques are based on TCM principles of meridian and point therapy and use acupressure and Qi (energy-breath) to promote healing and flow within the body.
I came to TuiNa (Chinese medical massage) as it proved effective in treating a range of childhood issues. I have found it is a powerful tool for calming the mind, relaxing the body, and empowering self-healing. It can help you connect with yourself, increase mobility and revitalise. I also have a great interest in food as medicine and in the future I wish to incorporate more of this knowledge into my practice.
I am based in Alice Springs NT, currently working from two clinics, The Health Collective and Alice Springs Massage & Yoga.
