Overview

Helen works primarily with adults, particularly those who lead busy lives. Typical population groups include and are not limited to those in the health profession, teaching and academic profession, corporate and business industry, career moms and dads, and tertiary or mature-aged students. Helen believes that understanding human thoughts, emotions and behaviours is a study which requires both a scientific and compassionate mind. In assisting clients with their concerns and their growth, Helen looks at providing individualized care and coaching within evidence-based treatment modalities to suit the unique characteristics, qualities and life story of the person sitting across from her. The techniques that she chooses to tailor to her clients' strengths include those from these approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Positive Psychology. Helen is also keen in exploring attachment styles, and culture (ethnic, socioeconomic, family, work etc.) to better inform her and her clients about themselves. She believes her own diverse cultural and life transition experiences allow her to better connect with people within the context of their own communities.
