As an APPTA Registered Play Therapist with a Master's degree in Child Play Therapist and a Bachelor's degree in Behavioural Science, I am equipped with a comprehensive understanding of child development and the importance of play in a child’s life.
I specialise in various therapeutic play modalities such as Child-Centred Play Therapy, Humanistic therapy, Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, Filial Therapy, and Learn to Play therapy. My role as a play therapist is to create a safe, confidential, and caring environment that allows the child to play with as few limits as possible but as many as necessary for physical and emotional safety. I build a warm, positive, and accepting relationship with the child, wherein I aim to fully understand their experiences from their perspective. By employing a child-centred approach, I support the child in expressing what is troubling them without feeling judged or misunderstood. Using humanistic therapy, I aid the child in reaching their full potential by addressing issues such as low self-esteem, self-doubt, etc. My emphasis on Child-Parent Relationship Therapy and Filial Therapy facilitates improvement in parent-child relationships and promotes healthy family dynamics.
I believe in harnessing the power of play to enhance parent-child interaction and communication. Through Learn to Play therapy, I work on enhancing the child's innate ability to learn and develop through the natural medium of play. Overall, my primary goal as a Child Play Therapist is to alleviate children's social and emotional stress, support their psychological well-being, and enable them to realise their full potential.
