Overview

Annecke is an experienced, professional counsellor who has been supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families for more than 10 years. Annecke is registered with the Australian Counselling Association. She supports clients with a broad range of issues and has a specific interest in the dynamics of relationships. Her positive and compassionate approach encourages her clients to feel comfortable, as she creates a safe environment for clients to explore their life challenges and navigate through difficult times. She helps clients to develop, build, and maintain skills to systematically change what is within their power. This process empowers clients to be more in control of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and they learn to consider alternative ways to exist in relationships. By exploring an area of concern and seeking insight into the underlying issues and impacts, Annecke opens up the opportunity for the client to gain an understanding into their problems which facilitates their personal growth. In this way, each counselling session can develop into a liberating experience. Annecke is committed to help her clients develop self-awareness through introspection, as she believes that understanding oneself is fundamental to a well-balanced and happy life. During the course of our lives, experiences impact on our emotional growth. We can become trapped in unhelpful thinking patterns and beliefs about ourselves and our relationship to others. This can potentially hold us back from being the best version of ourselves. Annecke believes that every person has the innate ability and resources to be in harmony with themselves and other people, and has the capacity to lead a fulfilling and inspirational life. With her insightful guidance, Annecke works with the client to help them achieve this by tapping into her extensive experience, knowledge, and skills. Each session with Annecke is tailored to meet the client’s personal therapeutic needs. She uses an integrated, client centred approach, drawing on many contemporary models of counselling such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
