Jane is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist in providing therapeutic treatment for people who live with severe and persistent mental illness and their carers. Jane has been working in Community Mental Health for over 15 years and is currently the Lead Psychologist for Sunflower Health Services. She is passionate about working with people who have experienced psychosis and with the services and support systems that surround them. However, the focus for her clinical practice in recent years has also been on treating Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), PTSD and Panic Disorder.
Jane’s training and approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Solution Focused or Brief Therapy. She adopts the Recovery perspective in her approach to mental illness, working with the individual to address many of the areas of the person's life that have been effected by the process of being unwell. Accordingly, she has had a longstanding relationship with Pioneer Clubhouse, a psychosocial rehabilitation service managed by the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW, where she held roles on the Advisory Board for several years.
Jane has also been one of the key members of the Remind Mental Health Training and Education team from its inception in 2005. This relationship has allowed her to travel NSW and to educate a wide variety of community groups, including the NSW Police Force, staff working for Recovery Services, council workers, and other allied health teams. In 2014 Jane has taken on a local role with the Sydney Branch of the Australian Psychological Society where she hopes to contribute to the role of the society in developing the profile of psychology in the community.
By working with Sunflower Health Services, and the support of the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW, Jane is able to offer bulk-billed psychological treatment services to our target groups, and aims to make treatment services more accessible for those in need.
