Overview

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology and Sociology), a Bachelor of Social Science (Counselling), a Certificate IV in Telephone Counselling and Certified Practitioner in NLP. I have worked in many sectors including Private, Government and Non-Profit Organisations. My qualifications and professional expertise are underpinned by my extraordinary life journey, acute intuitive insights, and natural attributes such as empathy and ability to listen. I hold a membership with The Australian Counselling Association, with experience in all areas of counselling and a keen interest in people with various addictions, and their families. I am committed to providing a safe space for my clients to explore their inner feelings. In my work as a therapist I assist to restructure those aspects of a person’s self that have been traumatised or challenged so that they can experience feelings of joy and optimism again. I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with the resources that they have. I help my clients to be solution orientated so the focus is shifted from the problem to what steps can be taken to reach your goals. I engage in a Person Centred, Strength Based Approach ensuring my clients feel respected, understood and supported. Therapeutic techniques that I use include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Existential Therapy.
