Overview

Bec has 20 years experience as a physiotherapist caring for people with chronic and complex conditions. Bec worked for 15 years at the Royal Brisbane Hospital where she was the Queensland Haemophilia physiotherapist. In this role she developed unique skills in managing, and advocating for, those with chronic and complex conditions. She learned to work with clients across the lifespan to manage the whole person, and help individuals pursue meaningful lives. She developed unique exercise and education materials that were of benefit to people not only in Australian but also internationally. Bec presented at multiple international conferences, was guest speaker at many state and National camps and wrote numerous scientific papers. She was chair of the Australian and New Zealand Haemophilia physiotherapy group, and a vocal advocate for people with blessing disorders throughout Australia. Bec has also had extensive experience working with other musculoskeletal clients in outpatient and hospital settings, as well as private practice, and has been involved in the care of those with chronic pain. Since her move to Port Macquarie in mid 2016 Bec has seen an increasing number of clients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions within an outpatient setting. In this new role she has applied her skills in managing complex conditions, and spent time developing her neurological skills, with great outcomes. She has now become a major referral point in the region for these clients. Through this experience Bec has discovered the lack of services available for clients with spinal cord injury and other neurological or complex conditions, in the region. This has inspired Bec to start up this practice. Bec strives to provide accessible, quality, evidence based, comprehensive care for individuals with chronic and complex conditions. Bec has strong communication skills, a deep care for people and a passion for coming alongside people to understand their personal goals. She strives to assist clients to set meaningful goals, and works with them to develop the skills needed to reach these goals. She seeks to inspire people to be the best they can be, working to optimise their quality of life, and assisting them to participate in meaningful activities at home and in the community. She puts time and effort into caring holistically for clients, writing reports, liaising with other members of the care team, and advocating when needed, to provide comprehensive and high quality care for all her clients. Bec values each individuals unique needs, and considers her role as a physiotherapist to be a great privilege. She hopes that through his practice she can provide a unique, high quality, comprehensive physiotherapy service to benefit many clients within the Hastings region.
