Rebecca Black is a registered psychologist, speaker, and business owner with a passion for helping people navigate life's most meaningful transitions and challenges. She is the Founder and Director of The Mindful Birth Movement, a specialist perinatal psychology practice, and Co-Founder of Mindful Performance Psychology, a practice dedicated to supporting athletes, performers, and high-achieving individuals to thrive in both performance and life.
Rebecca's work is centred around two key areas of interest: perinatal psychology and performance psychology. While these fields may appear distinct, both focus on supporting individuals through periods of growth, change, pressure, and identity development.
Through The Mindful Birth Movement, Rebecca supports women, parents, and families across the reproductive journey, including conception challenges, pregnancy, birth preparation, postpartum adjustment, early parenting, perinatal loss, and the psychological transition to parenthood. Her work is grounded in an understanding of matrescence—the developmental process of becoming a mother—and helps clients navigate anxiety, overwhelm, identity shifts, relationship challenges, and the mental load of modern parenthood with greater self-compassion, confidence, and psychological flexibility.
Through Mindful Performance Psychology, Rebecca works with athletes, performers, young people, and high-performing professionals to build resilience, enhance wellbeing, and optimise performance without losing sight of who they are beyond their role. She spent five years as a Performance Psychologist with the Melbourne AFLW, supporting athletes, coaches, and staff in both individual and team environments, including during the club's inaugural AFLW premiership season.
Rebecca's approach is warm, authentic, and evidence-based. She integrates therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), mindfulness, and psychoeducation to help clients develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and alignment with their values.
Prior to establishing her private practices, Rebecca worked within organisations including Victoria Police and the Department of Justice, where she conducted psychological assessments and contributed to mental health initiatives. These experiences strengthened her clinical foundation and reinforced her passion for supporting people through complex and high-pressure life circumstances.
Whether supporting a new mother navigating the identity shift into parenthood, an athlete managing the pressures of competition, or a professional striving to balance performance and wellbeing, Rebecca is committed to helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered to flourish in all areas of life.
