Overview

Rae provides an empathetic and client centered environment through the creation of safe spaces for individuals, couples and families to reflect and develop their own solutions, through active & empathetic listening which builds trust & strengthens the client/therapist relationship. This alliance supports the client to focus on their strengths and resources and to understand that they are the expert of their own lives. She has a strong belief that with the correct tools and support, mental well-being and self-care can result in healthy relationships with the self and others. Rae is committed to facilitating psychoeducational groups to provide information and strategies to support growth and reflection, based on evidence-based models and mentalization processes that develop an empathetic understanding of the self and others. Her extensive training includes Psychodynamic approaches, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Trauma-Informed Practice, Mentalization, Systemic Family Therapies, Attachment theory, Gottman & Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches in Couples counselling & extensive experience in Family Law Counselling. which provides support for individuals within families who are dealing with separation. Rae has experience in dyadic and systemic approaches working with dyads, couples and families by focusing on strength-based approaches to develop plans and strategies to support all individuals. Rae has extensive experience in providing therapy for individuals using a Psychodynamic and Attachment theory approach and Counselling using Solutions Focused skills, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy strategies, Trauma Informed practices and Mentalization techniques. Rae has extensive experience working with individuals and families affected by neurodivergence and providing support and strategies to create family cohesion. Rae has worked in Education for over 30 years in both primary and high schools and has been a classroom teacher, statewide numeracy consultant, deputy principal (teaching and curriculum support) and Associate Principal with a focus on Student Services and advocacy for students with neurodivergence, behavioral difficulties and social & emotional well-being concerns. Rae has also worked in the Waldorf education system as a learning support coordinator and well-being coordinator. Rae has worked extensively with teachers to provide mental health support through solutions focused approaches and instructional coaching. Rae has extensive experience in providing psychoeducation around Neurodivergence, Trauma Informed practices and Attachment theory. Rae has experience running psychotherapeutic groups that have focused on Neurodivergence, dealing with trauma and Trauma Informed practices.
