Overview

Kirsty Wood is a Registered Psychologist who commenced her training in 1998, graduating from Melbourne University with a Science degree, majoring in Psychology. She later went on to obtain a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and a Post-Masters Diploma in Existential Counselling Psychology from Regent’s College, London. Kirsty is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. Kirsty can assist with a broad range of psychological issues by drawing on her extensive training and experience in the following evidence-based therapies: • Existential Therapy • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) • Interpersonal Therapy • Psychodynamic Therapy • Attachment-focused Therapy • Solution-focused Therapy In particular, Kirsty works with clients experiencing: relationship difficulties (and associated stresses), depression, anxiety and cancer diagnosis (Kirsty has four years’ experience supporting cancer patients and their families) Her other areas of interest include: stress/burnout, managing change, bereavement/grief, low self-esteem, gender and sexuality issues, women’s wellness, post-natal depression, adjusting to life transitions and a lack of meaning/direction in life. Kirsty works with individuals, couples and is an experienced group facilitator. An experienced and very approachable Psychologist, Kirsty is warm, empathetic and supportive. She focuses on building strong therapeutic relationships with her clients, and in offering a non-judgemental and supportive space for clients to gain greater self-awareness and understanding of the issues they are facing, as well as developing the empowerment needed to make confident, positive and meaningful changes in their lives.
