Overview

Emma brings 26 years of extensive experience as a Registered Nurse and 19 years as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator. She currently plays a pivotal role within the Diabetes Technology Research Group (DTRG) as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator, Clinical Trial Coordinator and Clinical Lead. Before this, she worked for many years as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator in the Diabetes Education Service at Alfred Health, Melbourne. Specialising in diabetes technology, Emma is passionate about supporting individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, providing a personalised approach, and ensuring person centred care. Emma enjoys the challenge of commencing Insulin Pump therapy; interpreting insulin pump uploads and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) to then provide personalised advice for pump rates adjustment. She is inspired by improvements in technology and innovations and advocates for equitable access of technology, for all people living with diabetes. Emma has made contributions to the field through oral and poster abstract presentations at State and National Conferences. Emma finds great fulfillment in mentoring junior colleagues, actively contributing to their professional development and growth. She is a wife and mother to 2 school aged daughters. Interests include reading a great 'murder mystery'; gardening; spending time with family and friends and being amongst nature in the bush.
