Mrs Carol Yates Counsellor

Carol is an accomplished counsellor who has worked extensively in the community for over 12 years. She supports individuals, couples and families to address a myriad of concerns that are common to many, these include relationship concerns, grief and loss, anxiety, depression and many other unexpected life changing events. With her understanding of life-span development, she can confidently support clients to navigate their unique concerns. By creating a non-judgemental, safe environment, Carol encourages clients to attend to some of the inner conflicts that can often be pushed down or ignored. She believes that providing this safe space and using well developed therapeutic tools, she can support clients to externalise and let go of some unhelpful attitudes and beliefs which in turn supports the client to experience release and freedom. The aim is always to empower the client to be better equipped to deal with the inevitable challenges of life without needing the ongoing support of counselling. Using a strong person -centred approach and the belief that the “answers lie within” Carol employs therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and mindfulness practices. When working with couples she draws on strong evidence -based programs that provide structure to develop and support change in relationships.
