As former intensive care paramedic with over 20 years of experience, Ron has witnessed the tragic consequences of drug and alcohol firsthand. Ron’s desire to help those struggling with drug dependency was cemented when he found himself treating a 17-year-old girl for her third heroin overdose in a week. He went on to establish the Qld Ambulance Service’s Drug Unit and partnered with Teen Challenge in a state-wide program to help young drug users to recover from drug overdose and addiction.
Ron has built-up several years of face-to-face counselling experience with those who have struggled with drugs, alcohol and internet addiction issues. He also works with family members and loved ones, helping them through what can often be a long-term process of change for all concerned.
Ron’s passion and dedication to helping those struggling with drug-related issues was recognised when the Governor of Queensland awarded him the Ambulance Service Medal for his efforts.
Ron completed his Bachelor in Social Science at Christian Heritage College and holds a Diploma in Drugs & Alcohol; Diploma in Drugs and Mental Health; Diploma in Counselling; Advanced Diploma in Health Science, Diploma of Business, and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
