Overview

Gannon is a registered (provisional) psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA), and a background in Psychology, Philosophy, Ethics, and Bioethics; with experience in public and private clinical healthcare and community mental health settings, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), across the lifespan of children to the elderly, supporting; individuals, couples, families and groups. Gannon offers individual (adolescent / adult) and couples counselling. Walking alongside people, within a supportive environment, Gannon creates a safe space for the sharing of personal stories. He allows people to cultivate insight and awareness of themselves, coupled with introducing concepts of practical enhanced coping skills, to empower people to cope more effectively with the life and mental health issues that they may encounter. Gannon considers people’s unique characteristics, values, preferences, circumstances, and life goals. He works with clients to assist them in identifying the most appropriate approach and treatment plan to address the problem that best fits the individual’s and couple's own unique situation in order to help them to improve their lives. Gannon is passionate about and believes in guiding people to enhance their own personal well-being in order to foster positive and sustainable relationships with themselves and with other people in all types of environments. Gannon utilises a wide range of evidence-based approaches and treatments, including the therapeutic interventions of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Chairwork, Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Interpersonal, and Psychoeducation.
