Miss Emmaya Gunawardena (She/her)Podiatrist

Emmaya Gunawardena is a dedicated and compassionate podiatrist with clinical experience in high-risk foot care and complex patient management. She has worked in the High Risk Foot Service at Mount Isa Hospital, where she gained extensive experience in managing patients with diabetes and chronic lower limb conditions within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. Her clinical interests include high-risk foot care, comprehensive diabetic foot assessments, and the prevention and management of foot-related complications. Emmaya also has a strong interest in biomechanical assessment and orthotic therapy, focusing on improving patient mobility, function, and long-term outcomes through evidence-based treatment approaches. Emmaya has completed additional professional training in prolotherapy and is currently undertaking her endorsement for scheduled medicines, further expanding her scope of practice and ability to provide holistic patient care. She is committed to ongoing professional development and delivering patient-centred care, with a focus on safety, education, and improving quality of life for her patients. Outside of work, Emmaya is a keen soccer player and enjoys travelling, bringing the same energy and curiosity from the field and her adventures into her professional practice.
