Cenyi Ai is an Australian-endorsed Nurse Practitioner specialising in addiction medicine and psychiatry, based in the Department of Addiction Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She works across outpatient services, consultation–liaison, and emergency department-based addiction and mental health care, supporting people with complex substance use, psychiatric, and psychosocial needs. She also serves as Research Lead and Project Coordinator, leading clinical research, service evaluation, and model-of-care development within hospital-based addiction services.
In Australia, Cenyi has held senior clinical and leadership roles across emergency departments, addiction medicine, and mental health services at St Vincent’s Melbourne, including leading ED-based mental health and AOD hubs, coordinating methadone shared-care programs, and driving multidisciplinary service redesign. Her work focuses on improving access, safety, and continuity of care for people presenting with substance-related and psychiatric crises, alongside building a strong evidence base through clinical research and quality-improvement initiatives.
Cenyi’s earlier career in New Zealand provided a strong foundation in psychiatry and addiction, with experience in acute adult mental health, community alcohol and drug services, forensic psychiatry, and statutory addiction treatment under the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act. This background informs her current advanced practice in managing complex comorbidity and high-risk presentations.
She holds a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Melbourne, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Addiction, Mental Health, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Cenyi is committed to advancing nurse practitioner leadership, integrated psychiatric–addiction care, and research-informed clinical practice.
