Hey there,
I'm Amy a registered psychologist, and I’m thrilled that you’re considering that I might be a good fit to support you through your struggles to move towards the life you dream of. Let's face it, navigating life and figuring out who you are, what you want, and how to achieve it can be tough, right?
Since I set foot on the path to becoming a psychologist, my goal has been simple: to find and share the best information and support people to live lives they love. Within my career I've worked across the age range with individual's, groups and couple's, and particularly enjoy supporting women to reduce overwhelm, re-connect with themselves and the people in their lives.
As a "high-achieving" woman who was only diagnosed with ADHD within my adult years, I know firsthand what it's like to feel lost, overwhelmed, and uncertain. Whilst traditional psychology can sometimes encourage that psychologists act as blank slates, I prefer to show my humanness and vulnerability, with the firm belief that this is part of creating an authentic therapeutic relationship, normalising mental health symptoms and reducing stigma. I feel incredibly grateful when this can help others to feel understood, seen and supported.
In my professional journey, I have worked with couples and individuals of all ages, helping them find clarity and move closer towards a life they love. I have also delved into the study of positive psychology in the Netherlands, discovering how the traditional psychology of what goes ‘wrong’ can also teach us a lot about what goes RIGHT with humans. I've channeled my passion for psychology into various settings, from leading wellbeing retreats and workshops to non-traditional mental health supports like nature based therapy, training and supporting other clinicians, as well as contributing to mental health and wellbeing non-profit organisations. Whether I'm facilitating sessions, conducting research, or developing resources, my goal remains the same: to share evidence-based knowledge, skills and compassion, to truly make a difference.
When I'm not doing the above, you can catch me slowing down on a picnic rug at the park, taking a beach walk and swim with my gorgeous puppy Darby, eating my body weight in Mexican food, spending time with the people I love or unleashing my inner nerd with the latest (often non-fiction) book or training I’m loving. Life's too short not to prioritise the things you enjoy!
I really understand how daunting starting therapy can be, just deciding to look for a psychologist is such a big and important step that I hope you feel proud of. I wish you the absolute best for your therapy journey. If you feel that my style of therapy might work for you, I would love to hear from you so we can schedule a meet and greet phone call.
Warmly,
Amy
